Female nude drawing

Nude drawing charcoal on gessoed bristol board  2012

This is my favourite drawing from my last open studio life model class. The poses are long in this particular studio and I have to circulate around the room to get different vantage points during the same pose. I need to find a different place to go to that does shorter, more gestural poses. The long poses can be tedious and not as interesting since the model has to find a comfortable position to hold for a long time.

My little sculpture factory

All I think about lately is how many sculptures could I make in a year? There are so many steps involved to make each one. I would have to modify my lifestyle ( quit my job, win the lottery, etc). But for now, I will have to be satisfied with the production levels that are possible for me at this point in time. This time last year, I was not producing art except late at night after work.
(Today's my birthday, by the way. Happy B-day to me. Yay!)

Life drawing

This fall, I'm focusing on the nude more intently. The years spent at university and into my twenties were dedicated to nude drawing and painting. People sought me out looking for my work. So, I think it might not be such a bad idea to start again.
